My name is Eric, and I guess you could call me a born again travel writer. Back in the day when Anthony Bourdain made it seem sexy to fly around the world taking pictures of your lunch, I was down on the ground selling ads and writing articles for real-world travel magazines.

You’ve read my work before. Ghostwritten for brands and travel celebrities who didn’t have the guts of the good sense to get out on the open road and experience it for themselves. Then my daughter was born, and like all dutiful fathers before me, I got off the road, got ready to change some diapers, and started making the most of my slightly disused marketing degree.

Those days honestly added a lot of rings to the oak tree of who I am today. As much as I ached for the open road, I put it in the rear-view mirror.

Nothing grows you up like becoming a loving parent. And nothing shocks you back to life with more voltage than watching your own parents die.

It was losing my parents that taught me all that product reviewing, search engine optimization and brand building I was doing, wasn’t really living. It was just existing. I’d become a dude in the world, when my heart was that of a man of the world.

So, I gathered up my now half-grown daughter, and set off to adventure once again. My eyes were wiser for everything I’d been through. My soul refreshed and hungry to share it.

For this leg of the journey the focus is on the US and North America. All due respect to the rest of the world, this American continent of ours truly is beautiful. There’s a lot to see and do, and the melting pot effect means you can find a lot of great cultural experiences, not that far from your back door.
